I guess today is warm & sunny enough for them to do "cleansing flights". Bees don't poop in the hive, when it's too cold outside for flying it just gets stored up inside the bee.
When it's cold they cluster into a ball with the queen in the center to keep her warm. In effect they shiver to keep the cluster warm. When the bees on the outside of the ball get too cold they move into the middle to warm up. They eat the honey left in the hive to keep them going.
