Here's the uncropped picture of the smallest larva I photographed to give an idea of scale:

My thumb nail is about 1 1/2 cm from cuticle to tip.
You can find them smaller than this though.

huh... a lot bigger than I'd thought they'd be. Is there a way to encourage them in your garden?

I also appear to have what may be a mould of fungus on muy plants (and grass) which is much like snow mould. The ground is quite wet, so it's possible the conditions haven't dried enough and this sprung up.
