A couple of weekends ago I noticed "stuff" around the entrance of the bee house... I took off the front cover & saw that most of the smaller cocoons had hatched... that would be the boys... & the "stuff" was probably bee poop!

Last w/e I opened it up again & most of the remaining cocoons had hatched too... that would be the girls!

I had a look today & noticed two of the tubes are already blocked off & as I watched one of the girls backed out of another tube...
DA BEES ARE IN DA HOUSE!!

I have to admit, keeping them suspended in cocoon form for so long & not being sure of the fridge temperature I was a little worried they might not hatch... so stoked that they are alive, flying & laying!

HOORAY! Normally I do not like yellow and black insects, but bees are vital to our survival as a species, so I encourage you to breed as many of them as you can. Hooray for Bees!

Excellent idea! Although I just missed a great opportunity... a queen was laying in the tube with her head poking out!
