Applique

So... I've been thinking about making a set of fabric heraldic barding
 

BNF Français 2695, folio 45v; collection of the National Library of France; Provence, around 1460

using applique... I know very little about it & nothing about how it was done in period... I was wondering if the hive mind had any pointers for me!

I took a ton of up close piccys of the embellished barding we saw in Stockholm - in the armory. Check out my Flikr site for piccys it might give you some ideas

Holy Moley... they look like something crazy that Hero would do!! Maybe if I start now I can enter it into A&S in 2020!
Beautiful stuff though... what would be the best way to get more information on the pieces?

There are shots of the info sheets that were with the displays so that should give you some starter info. Does that help?
