Ok... so my sushi education continued last night with the help of
quixote317,
conejita_diablaand the B&B... to quote
quixote317 I experienced "fish bliss"... to anyone who has known me for any length of time this must come as quite the surprise... yes the girl who hated fish... the one who spent the entire afternoon in the car when she refused to eat fish is now happily ordering & eating it... not just fish... but RAW fish... wonders will never cease!
It's fishy fish I don't like (don't laugh) and raw fish is less fishy, the fresher the better! I've always eaten white fish (what Brit doesn't eat fish & chips?) and smoked salmon (blame that one on a great grandmother who served cucumber & smoked salmon sandwiches, crusts cut off, for afternoon tea), I'll eat but not choose to eat cooked salmon (best if it's smothered in parsley sauce!) so it's no surprise that I like the smoked salmon based sushi best!
So... new things tried yesterday... inside out California rolls with roe on the outside, Flame rolls (very yummy), tuna and salmon skin roll (nicked from the Baroness)... that one surprised me... the skin is the part of the fish I really don't like (it's usually the most "fishy" bit!) so I was very surprised I liked this one!
I'd liked to thank all those that joined me last night... I thoroughly enjoyed both the food & the company... we'll have to do it again sometime :)
I think I'll have to take Mum there when she comes up in June... surprise the hell out of her! ;) Maybe before Tavern... hmmmm... there's an idea...
