The commission could act as a tribunal to adjudicate conflicting interestes and, in certain situations, save regulated companies from the effects of cutthroat competition to the benefit of private and public interests alike.
The commission idea was not without it's critics, and more will be said on that later. In Great Britain, where the commission approach has an even older history, criticism was intense from the beginning. While the railroad was still in its infancy, the vexatious question of carrying charges led to the creation of a panel of Railway Commissioners in 1846. This perceived trent towardsgovernment commissions led Joshua t. Smaith, in a book published in 1849, to denounce all commissions as "the chosen instruments of schemers and enimies of public liberty." In the more hospitable climate, the idea of the independant reglatory commission did not at first flourish and, it was from the U.S. experience that Canadian, and particularly prairie, goverments drew their inspiration.

List the names of up to ten bands you

a) least suspect your f-list has heard of BUT that

b) you actually actively listen to on a regular basis. This is not a “show how many obscure band you know of”. You have to have listened to them within the past two months to qualify.

I listen to a fair amount of music that is unusual (for someone of my age group) but not obscure... so I can only think of a couple of bands that peeps (this side of the pond anyway) probably wont of heard of...

1) Catatonia - Welsh band that was best known in the mid-late 90's... I love the fact that the lead singer doesn't lose her Welsh accent when she sings in English.

2) Toasted Heretic - Irish band from Galway... I only have a couple of their songs, sent to me from a friend who's from Galway... but I chuckle every time I listen to them.
Three names I go by:

Simple, Progressive, and Sensual

11 Ukiyo-e, 6 Islamic, 1 Impressionist, -19 Cubist, -11 Abstract and 1 Renaissance!

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵, Ukiyo-e), "pictures of the floating world", is a genre of Japaneseand paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries. it mostly featured landscapes, historic tales, theatre, and pleasure. Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

Your Score: Saffron

You scored 75% intoxication, 50% hotness, 75% complexity, and 25% craziness!

You are Saffron! Those other spices have nothing on you! You're warm, smart, and you make people feel really good (and with no side-effects!). You can be difficult to get to know and require a lot of those who try, but you're so totally worth it. *Sigh*

Ok yeah I changed it... but seeing as I hate how much Valentine's Day has been commercialized I figured I'd change it. St. Dwynwen's Day is the Welsh equivalent that hasn't been blown out of all proportions :)

You Are St. Dwynwen's Day

You are a true romantic who places the ultimate importance on love.

You are warm hearted, and you find it easy to care for people.

Love is what drives you - and you have a love to give.

You enjoy making someone's day. You're full of surprises.

What makes you celebrate: Being with the person you love on a special day

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The sentimental one

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: See it as romantic and special
